EUMCCI – Providing the Largest contingent of Leading European Greentech companies at IGEM 2011
Second International GreenTech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2011) by EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI)
Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2011 - For the second consecutive year, the EU-Malaysia Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI) together with support from the European Union will be
coordinating the participation of Euro companies at the second International GreenTech and Eco
Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2011).
At last year’s event the EU Pavilion saw an overwhelming response with the participation of 39
European companies from 9 EU countries; making it the biggest contingent at the exhibition. This
year EUMCCI has reserved space for 54 booths and once again boasts the largest pavilion at IGEM
2011.
“The EU was the largest exhibitor at IGEM 2010 and we are looking forward to having a greater
response for this year’s exhibition” said EUMCCI chairman David Jones. “As the biggest and
most successful green technology exhibition and conference in Asia, IGEM is a strategic platform
to position EU companies as ideal green tech partners for like-minded industry players and
professionals from various sectors in Malaysia and the region. The EU is a world leader in green
technology and is more than willing to support and work alongside their Malaysian counterparts in
contributing to green growth.”
“I am happy to see this prestigious event ably matches EUMCCI’s mission of providing, shaping,
supporting and developing EU business interests in Malaysia as well as facilitating bilateral trade,
commerce and investments between EU and Malaysia.” He added.
At the inaugural IGEM last year, EUMCCI coordinated renowned global brands and industry leaders
such as Alstom and Siemens alongside smaller firms to showcase their green products in areas
around renewable energy, waste management and environmental finance. Siemens and Alstom
have been confirmed as returning exhibitors for this year’s event. Some groundbreaking technology
and unique products will be promoted at the exhibition including collaborative developments
in biofuel by the EU and Malaysia, an eco-refuse collector truck from Spain, an electric bus from
France, and many others.
Other returning elements also include EU-Malaysia GreenTech Business Matching, which will this
year, again, seek to match companies from Malaysia and the EU of compatible business models and
types for successful collaboration. “The EU-Malaysia GreenTech Business Matching, in collaboration
with the Malaysia-German Chamber of Commerce, is an extension of one of the Chamber’s main
goals, to facilitate and develop connections for trade between both SMEs and multinationals in
Malaysia and the EU.”
EUMCCI will also publish “Green Technology from Europe” – an EU-sponsored periodical that
accompanies the IGEM event. The publication endorsed by both the Malaysian Minister for Energy,
Green Technology and Water, YB Datuk Seri Peter Chin, and EU Ambassador H.E Vincent Piket,
contains an overview of the GreenTech sector in Malaysia, policy recommendations by the EUMCCI
Environment, Energy and Green Technology Committee, as well as visibility opportunities for the
exhibitors in the EU Pavilion.
IGEM 2011 will be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It opens to trade visitors only on 7-9
September 2011 from 10.30am to 6.00pm and to both trade and public visitors on 10 September
2011 from 10.30am to 5.00pm. The four-day event is expected to draw more than 500 companies
and organisations from around the world and over 90,000 visitors.
