Real Estate education initiative launched by NIREM

The real estate sector has felt shortage of trained real estate professionals and recognised the need for specialised real estate education in India.

New Delhi, 26 February 2010; With the dynamicgrowth of real estate in India over the last fewyears, the need for manpower also increased tremendously. Moreover, in theabsence of trained and competent professionals, real estate employers includingreal estate developers and real estate consultants started attracting talented professionalsfrom other sectors by paying huge pay packages. Suddenly real estate becamevery glamorous and thousands of graduates and MBAs started planning to starttheir career in real estate.

However, there isno system of real estate education in India, not even a singlereal estate course, which is a major factor that prohibits fresh graduates fromentering into this market. Infact, on the one hand, the absence of real estateeducation in India is worsening the situation of manpower shortage in theIndian real estate sector and on the other hand, though there are thousands offresh graduates and MBAs who want to start their career in real estate, thereis no real estate course which can orient them for a career in real estate. Itis a well known fact that real estate is a technical matter which can’t behandled by anyone unless he or she has suitable background in various subject areasof real estate including real estate laws and the property transactions. Thisbackground can be provided if we have an established system of real estateeducation which not present in India.

Considering theabove facts, IDS National Institute of Real Estate Management (IDS NIREM) , www.nirem.org , has chalked out a long term strategy of real estate education inIndia to guide freshgraduates and MBAs who want to make their career in real estate and propertysector. NIREM, set up by the industry development society for real estate, has alsolaunched real estate courses in different areas of real estate; at differentlevels e.g. PG Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses in commercial realestate, real estate management, real estate sales & agency management etc.These real estate management courses are of upto one year duration and are alsodelivered through distance education mode.
