Successful British online clothes swapping community,
CovertCandy, re-launches and enters 2010 with a new naughties vintage appeal.
CovertCandy re-launched today with a whole new look and feel, with new site designs,
new logo, new layout, and new online
vintage shop. This company are set to make headway with a strong focus on
innovative video media. Not only has the new site advanced its community
operations capacity, but it now sells a wide selection of handpicked vintage clothes, chosen and flown from Paris to London
on a monthly basis. All items are one-off pieces, modelled by real, young,
trendy fashionistas found on the chic streets of London.
With a sleek and minimal new design by D&AD winner Jack Featherstone,
CovertCandy has purposefully broken away from the normal vintage mould in
search of its own unique style. Founder and co-owner Harry Follett, believes
that vintage clothing works best when coupled with modern styling and the
CovertCandy team work to reproduce and reflect this notion through the new
design of the site.
So many young fashion lovers nowadays look for individuality and character in
their clothing. It is the everyday people that lead the fashion pack and live
by the words of Coco Chanel "the truly fashionable are beyond
fashion". In saying this, CovertCandy believes away from the predictable
high street, vintage has grown in popularity and slowly but surely the stigma
attached to second hand clothing is disappearing. This company focuses to bring
vintage to all those fashion lovers, making the vintage hunt and exchange as
easy as possible.
The new experienced team of buyers for CovertCandys new shop handpick all the
authentic vintage garments from the greatest fashion capital, Paris. They fly back a full range of clothing
from the past eras providing everything from basic, versatile items such as
loose jumpers, denims and checked shirts to funky playful tee shirts and
jumpsuits. The experienced professional fashion director, buyer and stylist
demonstrate how vintage can look fresh, modern, sexy and effortlessly cool.
Initially the website launched in January 2009 functioning primarily as a free
platform for swapping clothes online. Since then the community has been a great
success and has grown considerably with over 4000 users using the site to share
clothes and connect with other like-minded fashion lovers. The community
provides an alternative to the cheap throwaway fashion that dominates the high
street, and aims to make swapping a fun, free and practical way of acquiring
new clothes online.
CovertCandy has seen success over the past year being nominated by Handbag.com
for best vintage site and selected as a top 20 start-up for mini Seedcamp
London. CovertCandy was started up by four graduates all under the age of 25,
looking for new and innovative ways to improve and expand their growing
community of trend setters. Due to a great initial response, they have branched
out over the past year and built up a strong team of experienced professional
fashion and vintage enthusiasts.
CovertCandys new fashion director Kirsty McAllister and vintage fashion buyer
Oceanne Read believe there is no right or wrong answer when it come to fashion;
its all personal and should always be experimental and fun. However, through
CovertCandy we hope to shake off that charity shop stigma attached to vintage
clothing and unveil what vintage really represents. Vintage is about historical
glamour, exquisite detailing, clothing that is created through a hands on
process and production, resulting with clothing that lasts a life time.
Ourselves and the CovertCandy team work round the clock to bring the very best
vintage finds from the world most renowned fashion capital, inspiring,
educating and remind young people where fashion really began.
